
Dr. Meredith Lanham joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2016 as a consultative optometrist. Originally from Huntersville, NC, she received her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry (SCO), located in Memphis, TN. She attended Furman University for her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences where she also played Division 1 basketball. Dr. Lanham completed a 13-month post-doctoral training in ocular disease with Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, where she became extremely proficient in the treatment of dry eye and glaucoma, as well as the complexities of pre- and post-operative cataract, corneal and LASIK surgeries.
While completing her degree at Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Lanham participated as SCO’s research coordinator for phases 1 and 2 of a drug trial lead by Eyegate Pharma concerning the treatment of an ocular condition known as uveitis. During her external rotations, she received additional training in the areas of primary care and ocular disease at Orgain Family Vision in Hendersonville, TN and Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers. She was student representative of her Class of 2015, and an active member of Lions Club and the student division of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, where she spent time at the capitol lobbying on behalf of her profession.
Dr. Lanham is very involved with mentoring future optometry students from SCO and Indiana University School of Optometry through the internship program at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers. She regularly gives continuing education lectures to her peers on various medical eye diseases and treatments, and assists with residents entering the Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers ocular disease program.
Dr. Lanham is a member of the American Optometric Association, Kentucky Optometric Association, Louisville Glaucoma Society and the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.
